Founded in the nineteenth century, by Louis René Blanchard, the Vergez Blanchard company continues to produce quality tools recognized by all the arts and crafts. From the very beginnings of the company and still today, manufacturing tools continues to cultivate an entrepreneurial spirit at the crossroads of our cultural legacy and tomorrow's concepts.
History
A history forged by the journeyman colleagues in our workshop
We have always known how to reinvent ourselves and evolve. The company has changed over the years without ever losing the very essence of its past: placing the skills and know-how of our journeyman colleagues at the disposal of artisans and master craft-workers.
The history of Vergez Blanchard tools began in 1823 when Mr Louis René BLANCHARD, cutler by trade, opened his first workshop in Paris. It was at this time that the company began to develop its range of leatherworking tools. The watchword of the day was the search for quality and excellence.
Awards
7 gold and silver medals
That quest was successful, since Blanchard tools were awarded 7 gold and silver medals at various exhibitions in capitals around Europe, thus forging the reputation of our tools and the renown of our production in the spirit of the craft workers of the time. Several years later, Adrien Soubeyran moved the company which had become an edge-tool manufacturer outside Paris to avoid the noise linked to working with steel. The decision meant the company could benefit from larger premises by moving into a former copper-smelting works. The new location allowed the company to expand its reputation, but also to benefit from the hydraulic power of the Andelle river and rail transport to Paris.
Today, we are proud to be master steel-makers and we continue to use the techniques that have made our history for forging. Promoting our tools and knowing that they share the history of each of their owners is our pride as well as the hallmark of our factory.
Expertise
Vergez Blanchard, merging skills
In 1910, Louis Hippolyte Simonin known as "Blanchard", bought the Vergez company and thus formed the Vergez Blanchard trademark, recognized by the best-known artisans and master craft-workers today.

Developing
New ideas
The merger allowed the company to continue to grow and develop what was to make it successful: excellence as master steelmakers to forge the best tools possible. The premises in Paris located at 37 rue des Gravilliers allowed the company to gain and maintain a reputation among the craft workers making luxury products in the French capital. Every day gives birth to new possibilities and ideas. Throughout our history, we have renewed ourselves without forgetting our starting point. Constant changes that have marked the culture of the company and those who work in it. Our years of experience are the basis on which tomorrow's achievements are built, and we constantly search for innovative products to continue to forge our image as a successful company in keeping with the times.
